Cate Bellerose – Teach Me (Review, Excerpt, & Giveaway)

Teach Me by Cate Bellerose

My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars

To keep her safe, I have to push her away.

Amber’s smart, sexy and too damn stubborn for her own good. This job isn’t what she thinks, and working with me is dangerous. I try to keep my distance, but she keeps coming back and every time it gets harder to let her go.

I can’t always be there to protect her, but how can I push her away, when all I want to do is tie her down and make her mine?

– – – – –

Eric. My hero. My adversary. My weakness.

He roars into my life on his bike, driving me crazy. One moment he chases me away, the next he’s tying me up and making me scream with pleasure. I don’t know his secret, but no way will I let him scare me off without a fight. Not now that he’s let me in.

I’ll keep coming back until he figures out what he really needs.

Teach Me is a steamy romance novella that contains sordid and explicit depictions of sexual activity by consenting adults in a BDSM setting, and is for adults only. It is a standalone story with no cliffhangers.

Let’s hear it for smart, sexy, sassy female MCs!

It’s almost obscene. There’s a seriously hunky biker between my legs, my arms around him and the rumbling of his bike is like riding a giant vibrator. Why don’t more girls ride motorcycles?
Holy shit.

This book is a stand-alone existing in the same world as Make Me, which I absolutely adored. We catch a glimpse of several characters featured in that book, but 99.9% of this story belongs to Amber and Eric.

This is flip POV, and if you haven’t read any Cate Bellerose, let me be the first to tell you that she rocks the flip. The reader never has to wonder which POV we’re reading, each character has a unique voice, and the balance is perfect between the two.

How am I supposed to work with someone like that? Doesn’t help that when he’s not being an ass, he’s nice. Talented. Sexy. Interested. Almost lovable.
What a clusterfuck.

Amber’s chance at landing a design gig for local BDSM club is almost ruined when she’s mugged on her way to the interview. Fate steps in to save her in the form of a stranger on a motorcycle. He takes the purse snatcher down and offers to give her a ride to the interview…

Turns out, the sexy motorcycle man is interviewing for the same position. Amber has the technical skills to make the club’s website sing, but she’s got zero experience or understanding of the BDSM lifestyle. The solution – Eric and Amber work on the site together or neither get’s the job.

Eric’s design is dark and gorgeous – kind of like the man himself. Unfortunately, his site is so slow it’s laughable. They could really make something great together if Eric would stop running hot and cold. One second he’s all smoldering sex, the next he’s pushing Amber away with everything he’s got…

What’s a girl to do?

Sid might be about to blow my chances with Amber, but she’s still mine, and those fuckers aren’t going to mess with her if I can help it.

Eric needs this job, but not for the same reason as Amber – he’s working with a friend to investigate mob activity at the club, and this design gig is the perfect way to keep an eye on the place.

He needs to get Amber as far away from the club (and danger) as possible, unfortunately she’s stubborn and actually good at her job. She’s the absolute perfect girl for Eric, she just appeared at the absolute wrong time.

Eric is supposed to be pushing Amber out the door, but everything about this girl makes him want to draw her closer… Once Eric discovers the extent of Amber’s curiosity and ignorance about the scene, he’s helpless to resent the temptation… She’s getting a crash course in BDSM…

Eric is a deliciously deviant fucker. I want to tell you all the wonderfully torturous things he inflicted on Amber, but you should go read it for yourself

Play Time in an open Park
& Oh so much more…

My only complaints about the book are really due to the length. The’s characters were so fun and vibrant, I wanted to know more about them than a novella really allows. I wanted more back-story on why Amber was working solo rather than joining a firm straight out of college? Eric was ex-military and was helping out his buddy by working the case – what does he do with his time when he’s not working undercover, riding motorcycles, and tying up beautiful women???

There’s a lot of room to play with these characters – I really got a great feel for them in this story, and I’d love to see more.

I look around the room. “So, how soundproof are these rooms?”

His eyebrows arch in question. “Totally unless you use the intercom. Why?”

“Then, so long as we’re in here, alone, and by all appearances arguing, no one knows what we’re actually doing, right?” I move close, pressing my breasts against his chest.

Realization shows on his face, quickly followed by a mischievous grin. “That’s true. Why, did you have something specific in mind?”

Smiling in anticipation, I run a finger up across his hard chest. “I might. I feel I owe you, you know.”

He laughs. “Owe me? Pretty sure after all this, you don’t owe me anything.”

“Don’t be so sure.” I rub against him, sliding slowly to my knees. “That was one hell of a performance in the park the other day.”

I’m just about to start undoing his fly when his fingers thread into my hair and make a fist. He pulls, and I have no choice but to follow. My first thought is that he’s angry, but when I see the burning lust in his eyes, I know I’m in for it. In a good way. A shiver runs through me as his gaze penetrates me.

His voice is all command, giving me goosebumps. “If we’re doing this, we’re doing it my way. Walk. To the middle of the room.” He leads me by my hair.

There’s a padded table, the same one the girl was tied to last time we were here. Chains hang from the ceiling. Coils of rope are sorted by lengths, and racks are covered with toys. Already my mind’s whirring with thoughts of what he might do.

I glance at the viewing ports on either side of the room. The shutters are closed, but the switch that opens them is right there on the wall. I know we can’t, but part of me still wants to use them.

I lick my lips, waiting for direction.

He lets go of my hair, leaving me by the table. “Stand there, and don’t move.” His voice is steel and power and ice, all in one, yet it makes me flush and feel hot all over. He’s in control.

He steps up behind me, and stretches a black silk ribbon right in front of my eyes. “Do you remember your safewords?”

I nod.

“Tell me.”

“Yellow, slow down, something’s not quite right. Red, full stop, something’s fucked up.”

“Good.” The ribbon descends on my eyes. He pulls it tight, but there are still slivers of light above and below it.

“Going around once.” He winds black silk around my head, covering the upper strip of light. My gaze automatically drops, trying to look through the little slits that are left. My breath comes faster, and I’m trembling, knowing what comes next.

“Going around twice.” The bottom slits are covered, and I’m left in complete darkness. Not even darkness. Blackness. I can’t see a thing. He cinches off the ribbon with a knot that he tightens against the back of my head.

“Can you see anything?”

“Nothing, Sir.”

“Excellent. I can do what I want, then.” He leans in and whispers darkly, right into my ear. “And there’s nothing you can do about it.”

Oh God.

There’s something magical about the games of dominance and submission. The excitement of giving total control to the one you love, knowing that he will take you places you never thought you could go. The absolute trust in a man who loves you, who wants to challenge you, who wants to bring out the best in you. It’s love and total devotion in its purest sense, and that’s what I love to write about, at least when I’m not wrangling kids and taking care of my family!
