The most exciting news of the week came from the windfall of New Releases which finally graced our lonely bookshelves… Well, not very lonely… Some of us have an out of control TBR List *hangs head in shame* Anyway! It was like one-click Christmas with all the exciting titles available this week, so I hope you grabbed a few for yourself. Need some recommendations? I’ve posted a list of some of the releases I’m excited about later in this post!
Teasers keep popping up for Captivated by You – the highly-fucking-anticipated fourth book in Sylvia Day‘s Crossfire Series. Like this one I found on Tumblr:
Each time this happens – like a smutty Pavlov’s Dog – I immediately check Sylvia Day’s website to see if I missed the announcement… It’s the same every time… No Cover Image, no anticipated release date… I can’t even verify these damn teasers anymore… But rest assured, this blogger will lose her shit when this book finally comes out.
There was a cute article posted on BookBub this week titled: 16 Things Romance Readers are Tired of Hearing – it was GIF-filled silliness, but you should check it out. It definitely gave me a taste of what to expect at my High School reunion next month. I love what I do, but I’m not looking forward to telling people I haven’t seen in over a decade that I’m sort of internet famous for reading Erotica…
Speaking of Internet famous – The Smutsonian crested 9,500 email subscribers this week and continues to grow at a ridiculous pace… Thank you!
Leafmarks is a new(ish) website which is being touted as a newer sexier GoodReads – a place to connect with other readers, post reviews, live blog your reading progress, etc. This site has been listening carefully to the complaints of GR users and endeavoring to create a more user-friendly atmosphere. I’m currently withholding judgement on the site as it expands, though I have created a profile and uploaded my reading history for GR – which was a very easy process.
eBooks, and Kindles, and Gift Cards, Oh My!
Last week Ben Burgess Jr. graciously offered up an eBook of his novel Monster to one lucky winner… That winner was Mary Preston!
You can be a Winner Too! On Monday we spotlighted Patricia A. Knight who has a HUGE giveaway to celebrate the upcoming 4th Book in the Verdantia Series. The RaffleCopter includes a Kindle Paperwhite, Four Autographed books, and bookmarks! Click here to enter!
But wait, there’s more! On Thursday we hosted a release celebration for FOLLOW and a Cover Reveal for LIKE – the first and second books from the new Social Media Series by JA Huss. You know I’m a lover and collector of GIFs… Finding the perfect GIF to spice up a review is some kind of perverted triumph of mine. Which brings me to this week’s confession: The endless search for images to accompany Erotica reviews has turned my browser history into a scary place.
I fuck up Google’s understanding of what married women in their late twenties search for on the internet to an alarming degree. They don’t even bother with their condescending “Did you mean…?”, nope. They skip straight to:
Oh but it is!! You can’t imagine the things my poor husband has seen while casually walking by… Like this: Angry Asshole Eats Balls (Seriously NSFW) how do you NOT click on a link that says that?!?I don’t even try to explain myself anymore, I just travel further down the rabbit hole… Note: Google “Rabbit Hole” at your peril.
Luckily I discovered on Instagram this week that I’m not the only one: check out what I found on Alessandra Torre’s feed:
…and yes, I looked it up.
It’s exactly what you think it is.
Between my searches and my well known affinity for gay porn, let’s just say that clearing my search history isn’t going to solve much… And don’t get me started on the “Directed Advertisements” which rely on this information. Oh well, it’s completely worth it!
We have an exciting week planned for you! We’re reviewing an ARC of Her’s to Claim (the as-yet unreleased fourth book in the Verdantia Series) from Patricia A. Knight. We’re spotlighting a husband and wife author team who just released an Erotic Romance together – I ask all the good questions about writing sex with your spouse! I’ll be reviewing the first book from Tara Crescent‘s new Romance/BDSM Erotica Serial Series: A Thief in Venice. We’ll review the fifth book in the Brie Series from Red Pheonix (*fans self*) – and much more!
Let me smut up all of your social media platforms! Follow me all over the place!
